Lockey SUMO GL2 vs Locinox VOLTA: Outdoor Gate Lock Comparison
By GwayLock · Published
Compare mechanical and battery-powered outdoor gate access with LockeyUSA SUMO GL2, Locinox VOLTA and the GwayLock T1 rim-mounted smart lock.

For a gate that needs a shared code and mechanical operation, look at the LockeyUSA SUMO GL2 Double Combination. If site staff need to remove individual PINs, compare the double-keypad Locinox VOLTA. Where a project calls for fingerprint or card access, the GwayLock T1 is a rim-mounted electronic option to evaluate with the gate drawing and intended exposure.
This comparison uses manufacturer documentation for the named products. The image shows our T1. The models represent different access workflows and mounting hardware. Review the inside exit arrangement with the project team before selecting either a single-sided or a double-sided configuration.
Compare power, credentials and mounting
Order the exact side configuration and match its installation drawing to the gate. The three manufacturers describe fit using different measurements, so start with the gate stile, profile and strike before comparing numbers.

| What to compare | LockeyUSA SUMO GL2 DC | Locinox VOLTA double-keypad | GwayLock T1 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Credential workflow | Mechanical combination keypads on both sides. The product page lists one user code. | Electronic keypads. Locinox lists up to 100 programmable PINs. | Fingerprint, passcode, card and backup key in the model record. Confirm the controls on each side and the selected app option. |
| Power | Mechanical | Battery pack with keypads connected through the gate profile | 7.2 V lithium battery. USB-C emergency power input. |
| Mounting checks | Surface mount. Listed gate thickness is 1¼–3½ in with standard hardware. Confirm stile width and strike gap. | Surface-mounted lock with separate keypad units. The family lists 40–80 mm gate profiles. Confirm the exact SKU and hole pattern. | Rim-mounted assembly. Confirm the gate profile, supplied lock body, strike and supported thickness before sampling. |
| Weather information | LockeyUSA describes the model as weather resistant. | Locinox lists IP56 on the referenced VOLTA family sheet. Review the applicable configuration and fitted assembly. | Outdoor protection is listed. Request model-specific exposure limits and supporting documentation for the selected installation. |
Measure the gate and post as a pair
Record the stile width and depth, the flat space on both sides and the gap between the closed gate and post. Photograph the existing strike and note any closer. A change in gap or gate alignment affects how the latch reaches the strike. Verify the usable mounting area against the actual template, including room for the inside handle or panel and access for future service.
Choose a credential policy for the site
If the site uses a shared mechanical code, assign someone to change it and notify the approved users. If contractors or tenants rotate frequently, test individual PIN issuance and revocation with the electronic sample. For a smart-lock version, document which functions the app provides and verify the actual fallback when the battery is low. Evaluate the inside exit method, the gate closer and the strike as part of the same installation.
Send the mounting and exposure details with a T1 inquiry
For an OEM sample, include photos of the gate and frame, measurements on both sides, the opening direction, where rain hits and the expected users. Ask for the selected T1 mounting drawing, access methods, app version and weather documentation. Use the installed sample to confirm fit, repeated closing and opening, user removal and backup access before a bulk order.
